Avis opened its first location in Singapore in 1972. Throughout the 70s Avis grew steadily in Singapore and in the Asian region, with other operations launched in Hong Kong, the Philippines, Pakistan, Malaysia and Indonesia. More recently, developments have included openings in India in 1999 and China in 2003.

Avis Singapore - a 100% subsidiary of Avis Europe - operates the Avis brand throughout a network of four locations, including one city office @ 390A Havelock Road, #01-07 Waterfront Plaza, Singapore 169664 and three airport locations @ Changi International Airport Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. Furthermore, Avis is offering Meet & Greet service @ the Changi' Budget Terminal (a prior reservation is required).

Today Avis Singapore offers its customers a wide range of local and international mobility services combined with the "We Try Harder ®" service and quality levels.

Avis became the first international car rental company to enter into an equity joint venture for the Chinese market when in January 2002 we signed an agreement with a subsidiary of Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation - one of China's largest automotive groups - making us the largest international Rent A Car Company in China. Avis now employs over 1,500 people from 19 locations across China, including Beijing - the most locations held by an international car rental company.
